My Digital Learning Philosophy

Learning is like students, always growing and improving. Just as we learn and grow, we also must expand and modify our way of teaching for future students. As time moves on, technology is getting more and more integrated in our everyday lives. Nowadays, wherever we look, there is a child with some type of electronic device in their hand. Technology is becoming more important as we speak. The incorporation of technology allows students to absorb what they have learned with much more ease. A simple lesson plan using technology can be assigned and used for students in a creative eye-catching way. As a teacher, finding a way to grab students’ attention is key to creating a great class and educating students. After a hard week of working, I believe ending it with a fun activity will allow students to unwind their minds a bit. Fridays are the days to let students relax and enjoy an educational game or movie. This will help students, in the long run, to not be so stressed, but still get learning into their assignments.

As a teacher, we must be prepared for change and growth. We cannot be afraid of the word technology because it is foreign to us, we must embrace it. I am working hard to become an elementary teacher who can be able to incorporate fun learning activities through technology into our everyday life. I do not want to be remembered as a teacher who does not teach and just has students on electronic devices all day, or be considered a “fun” teacher, where they do not learn anything. I want to be viewed as a great teacher who can be creative and incorporates technology into my lesson plans without overdoing the electronics. I want to be seen as a teacher that my students remember. I would like to provide my students with lessons where knowledge is abundantly given to them without causing them boredom. Presentation and attitude for me are a huge deal because I cannot expect my students to be one- hundred percent if I am not. To me, students give off the energy which they receive. A healthy environment for my students to be in is for them to be able to be themselves and not be afraid to ask questions. While I think learning technology and having students have assignments, I believe we as teachers need to teach them how to correctly use the apps and technology in general. There are a lot of students who abuse and don’t know the correct ways to use it but guiding them will always be my number one goal in life. There is no success without hard work and growth.
