Technology Lesson Reflection
I chose to use Google Classroom to create a Learning Management System or LMS. I was so lost since this is my first LMS I have ever created, and I know I can always improve with time and practice. I used my lesson plan as the body of my LMS and incorporated four C’s which are to communicate, collaborate, create, and critical thinking. I used YouTube videos and had friends’ advice to help me. This has been an eye opening of how technology is an important part of teaching and to not feel scared to mess up. I can consider this a fun and learning experience. I loved going through different apps to try to incorporate them in to grab my future student’s attention. Before creating an LMS create a lesson plan to always fall back on, this will be very beneficial. I enjoyed making a banner using Canva, it is free and easy to use. I decided to use an introduction video for my students using Wevideo with some class rules. Even if we can’t meet in person students need rules and regulations, this will help in not letting students have free range or take advantage of not meeting. I also put an email, that I will regularly check, so students feel comfortable asking questions or have any concerns can reach me. This is not much but may give students support knowing they can reach out at any time, and I will respond. It is important to have and know your goals, knowing what type of environment you want for the students. Also knowing where your students are and what they are expected to know will make it easier while creating your LMS. Having a learning objective following course specifications make use of verbs in the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. Listing instructional materials and describing resources you will use to engage students throughout the lesson. Organizing your lesson will make life so much easier once you start to break your lesson down into assignments on your LMS. Using “I DO” (Describe activities you will use to teach content), “WE DO” (Describe activities you will use as you work with your students to teach content), “YOU DO” (Describe student roles and behaviors during all activities to demonstrate student learning) in your lesson will give both the student and you, guidelines. The advice I can give to you will be have fun while creating your future LMS. LMS will never be perfect, and we will always be learning new techniques. Make your LMS student friendly and easy to use. Don’t forget to incorporate apps and videos that will make teaching students easy and fun. REMEMBER to use your TEKS to create a lesson.
